Groundz was founded by Gregory D. Jackson in 2012 after learning at Starbucks in Brecksville, Ohio was giving away free coffee grounds to customers. He began collecting the coffee grounds and quickly learned that many other businesses, organizations, and schools produce organic waste where there is a strong desire to recycle and has researched four beneficial applications of organic waste from nutrition to renewable energy. Mr. Jackson graduated from John Carroll University in 2004 with a degree in Political Science and two minors in Business and Biology with an Environmental Sciences concentration. He has held positions at cleveland.com as a reporter to Cleveland Metroparks where he helped found the Parks’ first long term vegetation study in 2003 and continued in 2008-2009 to help provide baseline data in native plant restoration throughout Northeast Ohio after deer browse. He lives and resides in Cleveland, Ohio.
