Maggie’s Farm Composting Hub clears 3,000 pounds

At Maggie’s Farm composting hub we have so far recycled 3,066 pounds of coffee grounds from Dunkin Donuts. We began filling our 5th compost bin. During Labor Day weekend, Mr. Inman, our friendly urban farm neighbor, built four new compost bins re-purposing more pallets. This brings our current filling capacity from 80 square feet to 144 square feet. This means we are still able to add 156 more square feet of active compost, according to Ohio EPA Class II exemption.

Also over Labor Day weekend, Dunkin Donuts offered pumpkin spice latte coupons to customers. This caught both us and our store by surprise… We ran out of waste recycling receptacles! However, the timing was great because we still have plenty of composting space at Maggie’s Farm.
